We don’t seem to hear much about rodeos in these here parts. The Northeast ain’t really bull riding country, after
all. But if you’ve ever been to a rodeo (and I have been to several) then you know they are actually pretty damn cool.
Bull riders are to be celebrated and admired for their ability to sit on a freaked out bull for eight seconds…even if
that particular skill isn’t in the highest demand these days in the professional sense…you don’t see a lot of resumes
that read “Bull Rider”.
Well one of the biggest rodeo events of the year
takes place in Las Vegas this month,
when, over two weekends – the first at the Mandalay Bay Events Center and the second at the Thomas & Mack Center –
the 2005 Professional Bull Riders World Finals takes place. Because it’s Vegas, you can expect gobs of other
entertainment opportunities including blackjack and golf tournaments, a fashion show, mutton bustin’, and so
on.
