Urban Hawaiian Hangouts

I love reading articles and being able to put them to the test. I’ll be heading off tomorrow for two
very familiar places (Los Angeles and Honolulu) so I’ll be posting a lot
about the two over the week. This one from the
Miami Herald a couple weeks back talks
about Honolulu using more than beaches to reel in visitors. I wouldn’t say things are exactly exploding for the city as
an urban destination, but I haven’t been there in five years and the story states it’s certainly picking up. Places
like the Living Room, a dance club where the cast of Lost can be found shakin’ their tail feathers and a new sort of
Chinatown where an optimistic group is trying to develop the arts and culture scene despite the problem with
homeless and drug dealers are slowly defining the city as an urban hot spot. I’ll be sure to provide the
Gadling insider view of it all.
