We’ve done a couple of playlist
features here…you know, a list of the best music to listen to as you are, say skiing bumps this winter or paddling
a fjord. I was excited to see that Rough Guides, publishers of fine guidebooks and general guides about
other topics, has released a new series called
Rough Guides playlists.
It’s pretty clever. They offer lists by genre (like Britpop, Krautrock, Motown, bebop, bhangra, punk,
etc….some of which I’ve never heard of before…am I getting old?). But they also do themes, which I think is very
clever. So if you just got dumped, well, then grab a bottle of Jack and load up your ipod with pickings from
the ”Broken Hearts” list. Or if you’re planning that road trip, well, there’s Motoring Music to lift
your spirits as you tear along the blacktop. And on and on. I was inspired to get another Gadling playlist going. Any
suggestions?
