We love books here at gadling. Kelly just started working on a new feature where she talks about books and I’ve
reviewed a bunch over the last year. But I also listen to book a lot on my ipod using my audible.com subscription and I
figured I’d start a new feature called Earful in which I occasionally talk about a good book I’m, um,
hearing.
Following up on our podcast with Fabien Cousteau a while
ago, I decided to select a new book about sharks for my audible.com book on ipod this month. The books is called
Devil’s Teeth written by Susan Casey, and I’m very excited about it.
In the book Casey follows two prominent shark biologists who are pioneers in the study of Great White sharks. Casey
heads to the Farallon Islands, a “spooky” cluster of islands off the California coast, about thiry miles West of San
Francisco, to observe the scientists observing sharks, and along the way we learn a great deal about them. According to
one review I read, their “all new data” tells us a ton that we didn’t know.
I am just starting to listen, so I’ll post a review when I’m done.
