I noticed something earlier today when I was doing one of a zillion Google searches I do daily. I plugged in the
term
“
Montserrat Plymouth” and next thing you know, Google offered to help me book a flight from the Caribbean to the UK!
I paused when I saw it, not having remembered seeing this feature before, but just keep plugging away…
Just now I read that Searchmeister John Battelle hadn’t
noticed this feature before either, so it looks like the
Google crew is at it again. Seems that if you enter the name of two places, the first Google results will now return
those two locations and ask for your desired departure and return dates to fly from one to the other. Then you can
click on Expedia, Hotwire or Orbitz to see travel deals. Very interesting…
Anyone else notice this before today? (It works for
trains in the Netherlands.) We’ve been able to use Google to
check flight status and airport conditions for awhile
now, but direct searching for flights looks like it might be a new feature.
