We try to not get political here often. This is, after all, a travel
site. But you have to laugh about this one.
Poor conservatives. They are dying to find evidence in this world to
support their beliefs, but the world (that is, nature),
constantly has other ideas about the matter. Take the whole “March of the Penguins” imbroglio (yes, I am allocated one
use of this word per month per the Geneva Conventions).
Remember how conservatives were chirping and hooting about the film, saying that it should be imperative viewing for
all their children because it seemed to promote monogamy and family values. Well, it turns out
that’s likely not the case. The director
himself, a Frenchman named Luc Jacquet told the Times of London: “If you want an example of monogamy, penguins
are not a good choice. The divorce rate in emperor penguins is 80 to 90 per cent each year. After they see the chick is
OK, most of them divorce. They change every year.”
So penguins are not such family values role models after all, and the conservative search for how we are all meant
to behave goes on. Good luck, fellas. BTW: Might I suggest Animal House and Jaws?
