Na Ala Hele is a detailed site featuring several hiking
trails on all Hawaiian islands. There are 40 on Oahu alone, which I’m trying to size up for a hike or two in the next couple of
days. Looking back on the time I used to live here I don’t recall taking advantage of any of the great hiking spots. I
can surely remember the number of days and nights I spent frolicking out on the beaches, but I stayed clear away from
the forest. Clicking on the numbers will provide you with photos, detailed maps, and technical data needed for a safe
and adventurous hike. If I were spending a good amount of time on the island, I’d love to knock them all out, but I
suppose that will have to be done over time seeing there are a few closed due to flash floods or too many falling
rocks.
In any case this is an excellent site to start at if you’re looking to get away from the overpopulated tourist scene
in Waikiki.
