NPR’s Crossing East

Here’s a quick historical piece from NPR
a week or two past on Hawaiians in the Pacific
Northwest. Producers of the audio clip focus on descendants of those that came from the islands
looking to escape tribal violence or like many wandering minds just to see the world. Thought I would point this one
out to give a little variety to the posts I’ve been making on my travels throughout the island of Oahu and those
dealing with Hawaii in general. If you’ve never studied any Hawaiian history in this past you might be surprised at
some of the little findings in the clip. In addition to this particular NPR story on Hawaii, do check out their
archives for several others involving language, music, and self rule. Short, sweet, and informative as always.
