Nobody wants a black cat to cross in front of him or
her today. Bad luck on Halloween must be the worst kind of bad luck to get, right? We all want treats and no tricks
when we travel…
But it’s not always up to us, and bad things are sure to happen from time to time. As part of this month’s
Worst Moments feature, Outside
Magazine compiled a short list of books about really bad things that have happened to travelers: The
Bad Luck Books List touches on the
most awful of scenarios — we’re talking MUCH worse than a black cat in your path. From man-eating lions to an 85-foot
sperm whale, this book selection (covering titles from 1907 through 2004) hits on some of the very worst outdoor travel
tales. And I noticed that they listed fourteen “tragic tomes” instead of thirteen…maybe feeling a bit
superstitious?
