My guess is that almost everyone who checks out Gadling travels at least a little. But then
there is a subset of you folks who travel and write. And among y’all there are likely journal keepers (I’ve
kept one for over 20 years) and travel writers…although, actually, I’ll bet there is a lot of overlap between the
two. After all, I try to do both. Well, I am addressing this post to the travel writing folks. Or the folks that want
to write travel. Tim Leffel’s guide for
travel writers is about the best overall set of links I’ve seen. And within that trove of usefulnessility (!) I figured
I’d direct you today
to
this article by Martin Li…quite simple, very bullet-pointish, but direct and thoughtful, on how to write the
perfect travel article.
As I say, it’s all about bullet points, but these are immensely useful bullet points. For example: be fresh, be
funny, be balanced, be surprising…and so on. Keep these tips in mind as you are out and about, and when you come
back, you may just pen your first big published travel piece.
