Habitat on the Mall and Other Vacations

Washington Post
had an excellent write-up on one of my favorite organizations, Habitat for
Humanity. I know I’ve mentioned them time and time again and I’m
sure I’ll continue to do so until we’ve all picked up a hammer and do something meaningful with our vacations.
Hopefully you won’t mistake my excitement as a means to try to force any ideas upon you and your loved ones, but really
this is a highly rewarding experience.

The article featured
in the Post
touches on one of the current projects happening right on the Mall. A home modeled after each of
the 50 states including the nation’s capital are being assembled, where later in the week after they’ve been inspected
for safety, precision, and stability they will be taken apart and shipped down south.  They will then be
reassembled for the homeless and displaced, but fortunate families of Hurricane Katrina. Each home
will have three bedrooms about 1,100 square feet. More information about building on the mall can be found at
Habitat in addition to several other projects happening.
