The Barnes Foundation

Friends of mine were telling me last night that they will be
visiting the famed Barnes Foundation Gallery in Merion, PA
over Thanksgiving Weekend. They feel extra lucky and delighted to get tickets over a holiday weekend, because
reservations are hard to come by. It’s only $10 bucks to get
in, but court-imposed restrictions limit the number of visitors allowed at one time. Reservations are required
year-round, and the Foundation suggests making them 45 to 60 days in advance during the peak months of April, May,
October or November.

The world famous personal art collection of Dr. Albert C. Barnes includes works by Renoir, Matisse, Cezanne, Picasso
and other modern masters. In recent years, the foundation has made
headlines over the debate on whether or not to move the
masterpieces to a new location. A court has approved plans to eventually move the collection to a building in downtown
Philly that can accommodate more visitors. Specific plans on when that will happen have not yet been released. If you
want to see the collection in its original location, start planning your trip to Merion soon.
