Native American Indian Museums

Turkey day is only four days away and while most of us are probably dreaming of all mom’s
favorite home-cooked lethal weapons, bound to send you packing at least five
extra pounds, some will find their fill in one of
these 10
great Native American Indian Museums
. USA Today and W. Richard West, Jr., Southern Cheyenne and founding
director of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American Indian in Washington D.C. touch on the
country’s best places to learn about the several tribes and history. From the selections on the list it seems it
would be rewarding anytime of year to revisit the people and culture who owned the land years before the nation
looked anything like it does now.

Of the 10 featured on the list I’ve been to zero, but I did make my way to the
National Museum of American Indian at the Smithsonian and was pretty impressed.
Many of us can probably name some of the major well-known tribes like the Cherokee, Choctaw, Navajo, Apache,
and Seminole Indians off the top of our heads, but what about the Ojibwe, Salish, Potawatomi, Delaware, and
Miami Indians? The number of tribes that existed at one point and their different cultures is just
jaw-dropping.

Good way to feed your brain and not just your belly.
