Here’s a story posted on a CNN a few
days back I discovered just now. Apparently LAX ranks
pretty high in a list of airports with sketchy runway situations. Violations
are known as runway incursions and usually occur when a plane or vehicle on the ground gets too close to a plane
landing or taking off. Ever look out the window and think things looked a little too cluttered or junky on the
runway? Hmm… Since 1999 at least two commercial jets have come close to crashing on the runway and not just at LAX;
other airports like John Wayne Airport in Orange County, Long Beach Airport, as well as airports in Boston,
Philadelphia and Newark have been high in numbers. For Los Angeles the situation boils down to two tightly packed
parallel runways. Plans to eliminate violations and potential travel hazards are in effect.
