Okay, this one makes the list of places to go in December because I’m actually leaving
tomorrow to go here! I went back and forth for several weeks before deciding to fly out west to a cold locale at a
hectic time of year. But I’ve heard so many amazing things about Portland
that I decided it was worth the trip, regardless of the less-than-stellar weather conditions. I hear that a visit to
Powells on Burnside is reason enough to make the trek….and I can’t wait to find out for myself.
Bookstores are perfect for browsing at any time of year, but I think especially so in winter…
The New York Times did brief features on both
Portland and nearby
Astoria, Oregon in recent weeks. Besides the hotels they mention, I’ve also heard great things about the
White Eagle, a McMenamins
property. Oh, and it turns out that the folks I mentioned earlier today,
Global Exchange, have a
fair trade store on Hawthorne, which I hope to
check out while I’m in town. I’m due to arrive at PDX around 9:30 pm PST tomorrow
night, December 1st. So…I’ll be sure to post a few dispatches and let you know what December is like in the ever
popular (and
possibly perfect?) Portland. Any suggestions or tips on what to do and see?!?! I’ve only got three days this
time…
