Here is an interesting list that you might have seen already, but I
don’t believe we’ve mentioned it here at Gadling yet. Frommer’s recently released a list of
ten up and coming places for 2006. It’s a collection of
unique destinations that Pauline Frommer says are “…coming into their own.” I do wonder how they decide on the final
ten they choose to feature, as I’m sure they start with a much larger list. Hmmmm…
Here are the ten they chose (plus one “to-do” suggestion for each):
USA:
Amador County, California (tour a gold mine)
Charleston, South Carolina (study the architecture)
Molokai,
Hawaii (take a horseback ride)
Raham, New Mexico (learn Native American culture and history)
ELSEWHERE:
Belem, Brazil (visit the rainforest)
Margarita, Venezuela (go scuba diving)
Glasgow, Scotland (take in the art scene)
Goa, India (shop at the market)
Kenyan Game Parks (go on safari)
Tasmania, Australia (visit Cradle Mountain)
Tasi is the only one listed here that is already on my personal must-see list. There are a few that I’ve never heard
of, and will surely investigate further. We’ll do some future posts on these places and follow them closely in the
coming year. Do you live in any of these locations or have made visits to them? What do you think of Frommer’s
recommendations?
