There is a new magazine making headlines called
World Pulse that I wanted to mention. The magazine and website will
serve as, “…an editorial hub for the contemporary global voices and solutions of women and youth.” The goal of World
Pulse is to strengthen women’s and youth networks worldwide in an effort to transform our world and solve global
problems. The magazine addresses the under-representation of women and children in the international news media and by
emphasizing these perspectives, works to restore balance in the problem-solving dialogues taking place around the
world. Praised for “Best International Coverage” in 2005 by the Utne Independent Press Awards, World Pulse has
been hailed as a “significant new magazine.”
World Pulse is published by World Birth Forum, a “social profit” non-profit organization dedicated to
unleashing the global power and leadership of women and youth through media. From their website: “World Pulse is a
community of journalists, teachers, business leaders, midwives, academics, artists, lawyers, mothers, international
policymakers, poets, and social entrepreneurs united to create equal visibility for women and children in international
news media and to foster leadership by women and children worldwide.” Their second issue deals with
global health. They’ll be tackling topics
surrounding energy, economy, religion and communication in upcoming issues. Consider a
subscription or at least spend some time exploring the
excellent content on their well-designed website. The photos are stunning too.
