I’m in the market for a nice sea/touring kayak even though living in New York storage is
always a problem. If I could get out more and hit some of the rivers around the city, I might consider a river kayak,
but I have to confess it’s been a while since I’ve been out on a river in a kayak. Couple of years, in fact.
Still, I was intrigued by Outside Online’s Gear of
the Year selection for the Crazy 88
Kayak by Dagger. I’ve been a fan of Dagger for a long time, even though a couple of hard-core folks I know say the
boats are for amatuers (touring boats). Still, as I say I am intrrigued by this boat and its blunted shape…the
newest/hottest thing in white waterboats, as well as this thing they call the Overthruster, a sort
of detachable plastic pod "about the size of an airline meal tray" that supposedly increases the boat’s
volume and buoyancy. They say the Dagger is designed for killer moves and acrobatics, and I just wish I could head
out right now and test one out.
