While doing my last minute holiday shopping for my family yesterday I stumbled upon these lovely, yet mischievous postcards from Japanese
artist, Yoshitomo Nara. Influenced by Japanese anime, poetry, Tokyo graffiti, and punk rock the set of 30 postcards
includes Nara’s paintings, drawings, and sculptures. It was the box cover art that grabbed my attention and it took me
no time in deciding that I needed these for travels down the road. What better way to tell your loved ones you miss
them while lounging on a sun-soaked beach than to send the angry, frowned up face of a little cartoon Japanese child.
In any event it never hurts having a postcard or two on hand when you’re traveling, even if they don’t necessarily
depict the particular location you’re vacationing. To keep it simple, Nara’s postcards are cool.
The
postcards can be purchased just about anywhere online. Amazon and Sweaty Frog have them for $9.95 and if you’re out in the streets try
Urban Outfitters.
