Chinese culture seekers staying in the city of Sydney will be happy to find a happy medium for the two. Yin and Yang if you may. The Chinese Garden of
Friendship sits close to downtown Sydney and is a landmark established sometime ago (1988) to celebrate the close
bond of friendship between Sydney and Guangzhou, China. A trip to the gardens is a rewarding experience for several
reasons. For starters it’s a place of escape and tranquility. Winding pathways with gently flowing lakes and waterfalls
can all be explored in addition to exotic plants, private courtyards, pagoda-style pavilions, the traditional Chinese
teahouse and mythological creatures.
For the mind hungry, check out some of their educational tours designed for children, but I’m sure there
are several things an adult%uFFFD could learn as well. Tours examine the history of Chinese immigration to Australia
and the impact (past and present) on the community. Other tours allow young ones to learn the legends of Chinese
Horoscopes all while exploring the lush landscaped gardens.
The Chinese Garden of Friendship is open daily
from 9:30AM to 5:00PM with the exception of the past Christmas holiday. Admission into the gardens is $6.00/ Adults and
$3.00 / children under 15.
