When it’s cold outside you should embrace the weather. Put on your winter’s warmest and best, take your pick and chisel away at the nearest chunk of ice
around. If the snow in your neighborhood isn’t exactly shaping up into ice then you may have to get creative, but if
you’d rather see someone else do all the work check out the Ice on Whyte
festival taking place January 19-29, 2006 in Old Strathcona, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Running for the third year
in a row, artists around the country gather to make gigantic over sized ice chairs, trees, people, and various other
sculptures. Other activities include a giant ice castle, snow slides and an ice maze. For some reason that brings
images of Narnia to mind. Hopefully there won’t be any ice witches.
Admission to the festival is by donation
and operates from 10AM – 10PM daily.
