Every once in a while I’ll get a
random friend request on myspace (one of the many addicting internet social
networks) which will move me in such a fashion that I’ll do the merengue, cha-cha, pasa doble and feel obligated to
post elsewhere. Luckily for our readers elsewhere is several places. And today elsewhere may be here, but it is also
the location of the Graff & Urban Show located at the
Shangri-La hideout in Detroit. A vibrant display of speakers, handbags, toasters a.k.a. bread burners, panels and other
tagged mixed media pieces sit nestled in the gallery all free to view, but your kind donations gladly accepted.
Though graffiti art may be a field I am far from being an expert in or posses the appropriate terminology to
discuss in full, I do know this handful of Krylon spray can toting masterminds with continued exhibitions will indeed
go far. Work by Riku, Denz, Tead, Stori, Iges, Fire, Piano, Money, Sekt, Trans, and Mines can be seen until January 13,
2006.
Shangri-La is located at 1440 Gratiot Ave, 2nd Fl, Detroit, MI.
