ITSA

I’m not sure of the status of this organization, but I
thought it was worth mentioning their website, even if just to serve as a reminder to support local businesses whenever
possible when you shop for travel supplies. The Independent Travel Stores
Association
has links to ten travel shops around the country, but does not offer a comprehensive listing of them
all from what I can tell. (There are definitely other stores we have mentioned before at Gadling that are not listed on
the ITSA website, which makes me think that a complete listing of worldwide independent stores would be a great resource
for travelers!) Even so, I did learn about a travel store in Towson, MD that I
never heard of during all my years living near there, so the lesson is that even somewhat inactive websites can still
provide useful information. There are a few articles by travel writers on the website too, including tips on how to buy
a globe or a travel map. It’s worth browsing for a few minutes if you plan on doing any travel-related shopping any time
soon…you might just find something that can help.
