One for the Road (01/04/06)

Following up on my mention of some great NYC
Walking Tours
, I thought I’d also suggest a book that you can use to do it yourself, if that is the approach you’d
like to take when footing it around the five boroughs. New York
Neighborhoods: A Food Lover’s Walking, Eating, and Shopping Guide to Ethnic Enclaves Throughout New York City
was
written by travel writer Eleanor Berman. The third edition of this book was released in April 2004. It suggests stops
at a Russian cafe in Brighton Beach and an Astoria taverna where famished walkers can sample tasty Greek treats. Other
suggested stops include a taste of Korean bibimbap in Flushing and sauerbraten on the Upper East Side. The handy guide
includes tips on how to eat like a king or queen on the cheap and includes maps and illustrations to make navigating a
breeze. Eating your way through the city has never been easier.
