The Project for Public Spaces is fast becoming one of my favorite websites and
organizations. The monthly email I get from them arrived the other day, with a link to this fabulous collection of images from great
markets, squares, parks and other public spaces around the world. I tried to post a photo of one from Montevideo,
Uruguay that I really liked, of a man in a pub talking to folks walking by on the street outside…it had a perfect
friendly feel that just made you want to be there having a drink with him. It’s cool when interior spaces connect to
the street in ways that promote conversation with those outside. That’s why it made the Best Street Photography of 2005
photo gallery. But I could not get the photo to show up here. (I could not show any photos from their website here, but
please do go check out their awesome collection!) Go to their website and roam around…if you don’t find that photo,
you will surely find one you like. The PPS Gallery is huge — they’ve amassed more than a half-million photos from
"…explorations through back alleys, piazzas, main streets, souks, town squares, walled cities, foodhalls, train
stations, strip malls and almost everywhere else." Check out the Best of 2005
Gallery and enjoy traveling to great public spaces around the world!
