Top Travel Destinations

Let’s
take a quick look at some of the top travel destinations for 2006. We’re checking out a variety of resources to help YOU
make your travel plans for the coming year. And so, where should you go?

Lonely Planet, the well-known travel
guide company gives the thumbs up to Argentina; China; Nicaragua; Croatia; Mexico; Antarctica; Canada; India; Colombia;
Germany.

Meanwhile, the National Park Service, one of my favorite government agencies, provdes its top 10
national parks by number of recreational visitors in 2004. They are:
Great Smoky Mountain National Park
Grand Canyon National Park
Yosemite National Park
Cuyahoga National Park
Olympic National Park
Yellowstone National Park
Rocky Mountain National Park
Zion National Park
Grand Teton National Park
Acadia National Park

TRAVEL LEISURE lists its five up-and-coming destinations for 2006, these
are from the magazine’s January issue:
Montenegro; Minneapolis; Mongolia; Gabon; Eleuthera, the Bahamas.

And finally, the U.S. Tour Operators Association provides a list of its most popular international destinations for
tours and packaged travel: Italy, followed by France. Most popular international cities: Rome and Paris. Most popular
domestic destinations: California, Colorado and Alaska tied for first place, with the American West and Yellowstone in
a tie for most popular region. What’s hot for 2006: Croatia, followed by China.
