Zehnder's Ice Sculpture Fest

You know that great scene from Groundhog Day when Bill
Murray, having lived and died the same day over and over again like a thousand times, impresses the Andie McDowell
character by carving an ice sculpture of her face using a chain saw. I’ve always liked this scene. In fact, I’ve always
secretly thought it would be cool to be an ice sculptor. In the same way I’ve always thought it would be cool to be a
stained glass designer. Off-beat art holds an interest to me.

So keeping with the ice sculpture theme, I
noticed that we are very close to one of the major ice sculpture competitions in the . Yes, Zehnder’s Snowfest takes place this year starting January
25 at 730 S. Main Street in Frankenmuth, Michigan. It is
unlikely that you will ever have another reason to go to Frankenmuth, so I advise and urge you to go now.

But seriously, this is one of the top snow sculpting events in North America, and just
one of those quirky American things that would be really interesting to check out. Particularly if you’ve got nothing
better to do.
