Hot Adventure Destinations 2006

Travel is a fickle industry as some locations suddenly become “hot destinations” while others simply
fall from grace.  Sometimes it’s a Hollywood film that ignites the travel passion (i.e., Lord of the Rings
and New Zealand); other times it is something as nasty as civil war to really put a damper on an otherwise hot
destination.

Last week, Travel Industry Wire released their predictions for this
year’s “adventure travel
trends
.”  Based on an interview with Ian Ripper (the director of adventure travel agency Guerba), the list is slightly biased towards excursions offered by the company, but
proves interesting nonetheless.

Based upon, “price, ease-of-access, legal changes and recovery from tragedy,” Ripper’s list
includes Eastern Europe, overland through Africa, Argentina, and post-tsunami Thailand.
