I hate TV. Well, OK, that’s
not quite accurate. I hate bad TV, and much of what is on the tube these days is bad. I also hate commercials. I loathe
them, in fact, with such ferocity that I often get up and leave the room with a stomach ache when they come on…and
often I’ll throw something if I feel like my time has been wasted by a particularly stupid ad.
Which is why
I have found video on demand, TIVO (or TIVO-like DVRs) and DVDs in general so wonderful. They have completely changed my
viewing habits, in fact, such that I will now sit and watch a series like Deadwood or the Sopranos end over
end…sometimes three or more episodes at a time.
Shows like this are very addicting, and no matter how
hard I try to spend an evening reading or doing something productive, I often find myself in front of the TV. Why am I
telling you all this? Because another one of these shows that I have become addicted to is 24. I hate to say that
because there’s so much about the show I hate. I hate how stupid some of the people are, and it is not uncommon to hear
phrases like: "No one would ever do that!" or "How can she be so stupid!" emanate from my apartment.
But for the life of me, I still find myself recording the damn show and watching it. The bastards who write 24 have
hooked me like a smack addict. But wait…I haven’t gotten to the real pint yet, have I. Damn, I can ramble.
OK, the real point is that you should check out, right now, with no further…or only a little

don’t then it will mean almost nothing to you. But check it out anyway.
