Africa Travel: Gabon

If your seeking peace and quiet with an incredible backdrop to soak in all the silence look towards Cirque de Lékoni in Gabon. Gabon is a west African country bordering
the Atlantic Ocean at the Equator. The country sits between Equatorial Guinea and Republic of Congo. Lékoni is
located just east of Franceville. The deep red-rock canyon is said to look a little like something from the American
southwest and can be difficult to get to. While it probably won’t come close to our precious Grand Canyon in Arizona it
would pretty awesome to see something resembling the land all the way over in Africa. From the photo it’s really hard to
tell whether this piece of land is truly worth a moment of your time, but it did make the pages of Lonely Planet and
considering it’s also on this Gabon
Tourism
site (in French) it must be a decent way to spend the day. Your echo, the savannah, the canyon and the
opportunity to watch burning brush fires from miles away sounds rockin’ to me. But that’s just me and what do I know?
