Comedy Arts Festival, Aspen

It’s time once again to laugh—or so the organizers of this year’s U.S. Comedy Arts Festival hope.

Now in its 12th year, the event has usually been pretty good at delivering the yucks and guffaws that
festival-goers have come to expect.   I’ve never had the opportunity to go myself, but have often
caught the televised performances and awards shows and have usually been impressed—especially the year of the Monty Python reunion.

Like all comedy, however, much of it can be hit or miss.  This is probably even more so this year with Gary
Shandling as one of the headline acts; I find him funny, but he tends to irritate rather than amuse most other
people.  Fans of Goldie Hawn will be happy to hear that she will be receiving a special AFI
Star Award
.  One event that promises to be fun is the 10 year
anniversary reunion
 for Swingers, featuring Jon
Favreau, Vince Vaughn, and Ron Livingston.

While the festival promises to be entertaining, the good news is that if the jokes fall short, you can always just
head outside; the festival will be held once again in beautiful Aspen, Colorado March 8-12.  Perfect timing for
ski season.
