Oscar for Best Scenery?

Today’s Academy Awards will bestow the usual golden statuettes to the usual suspects in the usual
categories.  USA Today’s Laura Bly, however, recommends adding one more to the long list: Best
Scenery.

Movies inspire travel more so than any other medium.  And although you can’t really grant Venice, Italy
an Oscar for simply being itself in the film Casanova, you can give it a complimentary nod and thumbs
up.  This was what Bly had in mind when she put together a short list of such
films, a synopsis of their plots, and most importantly, links for potential travelers to find out more information about
visiting.  And no, Brokeback Mountain ain’t real so don’t go fixin’ to go find it on a map,
partner.
