Travel and arts fans will be interested to read about the
controversy over the recent "Death
of God," exhibit by controversial British artist Damien Hirst. The show is the product of Hirst’s
three-month stay in Mexico, and it includes all manner of odd, very Hirstian bits, like human skeletons, animals
preserved in formaldehyde and skinned lambs. Ah, art.
Of course, there is stuff one might call
controversial. To wit: a lamb kneeling inside a crystal container, looking as if it is carrying a white-covered
Bible and red rosary between its legs. Nothing like an exhibit to offend everyone. But seriously, I like art and am
cool with Hirst’s stuff. It just seems like much of the work is meant to offend…but maybe that’s the point.
