While some folks have been fired out there for
blogging about their companies, it looks like Southwest Airlines is going in the opposite direction. The discount
airline is launching its own blog where employees can post about their jobs
and the airline industry. One does have to wonder how much freedom the new bloggers will have, that is, whether they can
bite the hand that feeds them with posts about the internal workings of the company, but we wish them well, and will
tune in to see how the blog pans out. It seems that one of the first posts features the ruminations of a marketing exec
making a pitch for the airline as more of a business travelers company. Ohh, that’s so daring. So it does seem as if the
blog will be more of a marketing vehicle than anything, which is expected but a bit of a disappointment.
