Antarctica. I was there several years ago and thought it one of the most interesting places I’ve ever been. The light is unreal, the cleanest, freshest, crispest light you’ve ever seen. The wildlife…why, penguins come right up to you and say how do you do? And then there is the gaping sprawl of the place. Antarctica is quite simply amazing. And while it used to be so inaccessible, the fact is you can get there pretty easily now. That kind of sucks because that means that it will be overrun with tards in shiny new North face jackets and digital cameras. But there’s not much we can do to stop the tourist onslaught, so let’s just grin and bear it. And in the meantime, take a look at this CNN piece taking us to Antarctica.
