World Tunes

Sometimes when I think of world music, what comes to mind are chanting monks (the kind of stuff you hear in an LA Yoga clinic) or Yanni. But that’s being narrow minded. The fact is, I don’t know if you’re musical tastes are as varied as mine, but eclectic only describes part of my music collection. I mean, I’ve got everything from regular rock to Gregorian chant to Yoruban chieftans singing and using an instrument that sounds like a cross between a fiddle and a dead cat.

Anyway, varied tastes are what it’s all about. Appreciating the variegated quilt of human life through music…is there anything better? And so I introduce you, should you not be aware of it, to the wonderful BBC music site. You can spend a lot of time messing around here, but you will never get bored.
