Burning Man Photo Contest

Today is Tuesday, September 5th. In America it is the day after the three-day, Labor Day weekend which means that some 39,000 people are returning to the real world after a bacchanalian escape to Black Rock Desert in Nevada to celebrate Burning Man.

We’ve posted before about this very strange gathering and all the bizarre goings-on which dominate the landscape, including the climactic burning of a 40-foot tall figure on the final day of the festival.

Having failed to go for the umpteenth year in a row, I thought I’d live vicariously through those of you who made the journey (both physically and mentally). Gadling is therefore announcing a Burning Man Photo Contest. Please upload your submissions to our Gadling Flickr site and next week on September 13, we will publish the winning photograph.

And what’s the prize you ask? Well, in the spirit of Burning Man which “seeks to create social environments that are unmediated by commercial sponsorships, transactions, or advertising” there will be no prize. Simply relishing in the joy of having particpated is reward enough.
