The Pope has gotten into a bit of trouble recently with some of the comments that have come out of his mouth.
Yesterday, however, he managed to redeem himself–at least in the eyes of travelers–with an impassioned plea to see more of the world. Tourist boards across the planet gave the pontiff a big thumbs-up when he spoke from the Vatican yesterday on World Tourism Day.
“I hope that tourism will increasingly promote dialogue and respect between cultures, thereby becoming an open door to peace and harmonious cohabitation,” the Pope said.
I couldn’t have said it better. I think that every world leader should be required to travel extensively before taking office so that they better understand the surrounding world so heavily impacted by the decisions they make.
