Using the Wind

It’s Christmas and I’m sure some of you got some really cool stuff from friends and family. Check out this series on snow kiting, the new rage among the exterme sports set. The sport began back when Matty McNair, a famous explorer who led the first all-women’s trip to the North Pole in 1997, used kites and skis to speed across open stretches of the frozen Arctic, thus making efficient use of wind power…and saving her own energy. It actually sounds pretty fun, albeit cold. The site here at away.com has got some info on winter kiting and how it came to be.
