Today Spirit Airlines announced they will be cutting many of their domestic and international fares by up to 40%, at the cost of complimentary checked luggage and free drinks.
Starting June 20th, passengers will be allowed one carry-on bag at no extra cost, but additional luggage — checked our otherwise — will cost extra. This sounds like a dream come true for all of you one-baggers out there. I’ve commented before on the need for more no-frills, ultra-low-cost flights, and this seems like a step in the right direction.
Will other airlines follow? I sure hope so.
