Keychain Travel Phone

Skype is wonderful for making cheap/free international calls. But what if you are traveling? Since Skype must be downloaded, it often can’t be used on some random computer in an internet bar in Bangkok.

One of Skype’s competitors, Vonage, has come up with a solution. The company sells a 250-MB USB gadget which can plug into any computer and turn it into a telephone. Simply plug the V-Phone into a USB port along with the accompanying “stereo earpiece microphone” and you can make international calls over the internet for very low rates. In short, the device is a portable phone that can be carried on your keychain.

Very cool. I just might have to pick one of these up and try it out.
