I’ve been thumbing through a plethora of interesting travel articles in some new mags…and not all from your typical travel rags. Here’s a mini round-up that highlights some of the people and places covered in these recently published issues:
The New Yorker’s Journeys issue is out, featuring a look at the new Beijing to Lhasa train, plus a fascinating piece on the language of a remote Amazonian tribe known as Piraha, and Orhan Pamuk’s first passport photo.
Men’s Journal May Adventure Issue is already on newsstands, with coverboy Tobey McGuire serving as tour guide of Hollywood. There’s also a look at guys who do dangerous things on Mt. Everest, surfing’s connection to Africa and a slew of other rough and rugged stuff.
And the spring edition of Forbes Life features P.J. O’Rourke riding a palomino through the Tian Shan mountains of Kyrgyzstan. There’s also a peek at the most expensive fishing excursion (aboard the mothership Atmosphere) and a look at why those French travel posters still seduce us so.
