Stylish Video Glasses to be Released in 2008

The problem with technology is that it keeps getting better. This is a problem, you ask? It is when you buy the hottest new product only to discover it will soon be obsolete.

Last week I reviewed the MyVu Personal Media Viewer, a fantastic piece of technology which allows one to watch their video iPod on a pair of goggles. I simply love this product and it now accompanies me on every flight I take.

The only problem is that the goggles are a bit nerdy and make the wearer appear as though he is an extra in some cheap science fiction movie.

A stylish upgrade would be nice. According to a recent Reuters article, another company, Lumus, is already working toward that goal. The new design, expected to be released in 2008, projects video light waves directly into fiber optics imbedded within an ordinary looking pair of glasses. The resulting image is supposed to be the equivalent of watching a 60 inch screen from ten feet away! Very cool!

I’m anxious to get my hands on this baby and give it a try. In the meantime, I’ll continue happily enjoying my MyVu.
