Eating Around the World in 80 Days

Conde Nast Traveler has given the Toronto-based food and travel writer Mark Schatzker pretty much the best job in the world. In a nod to both culinary-minded adventure-types and Jules Verne, he’s going to travel around the world in 80 days, largely eating everything in sight and keeping a stately pace (never over 100 miles an hour) so as to savor the moment. I suppose you could also say this is a nod to the sow food movement, except for the rush around the world in 8 days part. Schatzker is apparently on day 40, blog-wise, and writes about Moscow’s “fairytale, onion-domed masterpiece” the St. Basil’s Cathedral. He’s also been to Nevada and California and a gazillion other places so far and just writing about this makes me insanely jealous. I mean, how does one get a job like this?
