Photo of the Day (7/12/07)

LocalSurfer, one of our favorite Gadling photo contributors, has once again uploaded another gem. This fine shot of the fishing village of Clovelly isn’t exactly a shot of the village itself, but rather a way into it.

Apparently the entire village is privately owned and managed and tourists must pay an admission charge just to get in–unless, of course, you are privy to the above secret passage.

Illegalities aside, I just love the way this sunken pathway explodes with greenery in a pleasant, almost ethereal way. The photo also evokes a sense of age, mystery and adventure. The fact that the passageway is used to sneak into a place only serves to heighten the allure.

Great job, LocalSurfer!
