There is nothing worse than vacationing somewhere and being unable to book a seat at the best restaurant in town.
Well, okay, there are a few worse things in life than this, but it can damper your holidays when shut out from fine dining simply because you didn’t think to make a reservation three months in advance.
Every major city in America has its share of tough-to-get-in restaurants. And of course there is a reason for this: wonderful food. Or simply snooty restaurateurs who prefer to keep the riff-raff out.
Take, for example, Minibar in Washington DC. I was in DC last week and if I had wanted to stop by for a bite, I would have had to call 30 days in advance at 9 a.m. when the restaurant begins taking reservations. Go figure.
