How the Rich Steal Malibu Beaches from the Public

We posted a few days ago about the dirty tricks beachfront property owners in Malibu make use of to scare people away from the public beaches in front of their homes.

Today, we focus on a specific beach which, although county owned, is nearly inaccessible thanks to nearby property lines and pressure from neighbors.

You’ve probably never heard of El Sol Beach, but as you can tell by the Los Angeles Times photo above, it sure would be a sweet place to spend a summer afternoon. But if you look closely, you’ll note that there is no way down to the beach. Beachgoers can only access it by picking their way along property lines to the north and climbing over a jetty of sharp rocks and boulders. Of course, one can attempt to rappel down the steep bluffs, but according to one local resident speaking to the LA Times, “it’s caving in right now and infested with rabbits.” Infested with rabbits? Classic. We all know just how vicious rabbits can be!

Anyway, take a moment to read the LA Times article on the subject and you’ll either end up hating the rich even more, or doing every thing in your power to become one yourself.
