There are a number of ‘world’s largest’ attractions that are worth visiting around North America, but I’m not sure this is one of them: Henry Coffer of Charleston, MO, boasts the world’s largest hairball. It weighs in at 167 pounds (for now at least — it keeps growing daily!) and contains various hair clippings from his 50-year career as a barber. Coffer is hoping he can make the Guinness Book of World Records with the ball.
Collecting hair clippings is a hobby straight out of Silence of the Lambs, if you ask me, but Coffer says he came by it honestly — a customer asked him to save some hair so he could sprinkle it over his watermelon patch to keep coyotes out. And after the watermelon patch shut down, he just kept on collectin’.
You can add to the hairball by visiting Coffer — Haircuts are $10 and no appointment is necessary.
