Best Winter Adventure Lodges

Staying with the theme I started yesterday on cold weather adventure vacations, today we have a list of the top adventure lodges in North America, courtesy of Outside Online, the official website for Outside Magazine. Each of these amazing places provide plenty of opportunities to play in the snow, then warm up in comfort and style when you’re ready to relax at the end of the day.

All told, there are seven lodges that make Outside‘s list, stretching from Maine to California, and north of the border to Whistler, British Columbia, and Alaska. All of the lodges offer excellent skiing, usually both downhill and cross country, as well as other activities such as snowshoeing or ice fishing.

Upon returning to these wintery getaways, you’ll be treated to a host of amenities, such as roaring fireplaces, saunas and hot tubs heated with wood, LCD TV’s, fine dining and much more. Costs vary depending on the location, but staying in the Maine Huts system costs as little as $65 per night, including meals, while the more upscale Tamarack Lodge will set you back $280 for a night’s stay.

With two more months of winter left here in the northern hemisphere, there is still plenty of time to get outside and enjoy the snow. These top lodges will give you a great place to stay, without having to rough it at all, and still provide plenty of opportunities for outdoor adventure.
