Daily gear deals – $270 tablet PC, $92 satellite radio and more

Here are the hottest gadget deals for today, Saturday June 27th 2009. Remember, these deals are often only valid for one day, so act fast before they are gone.

This device is marketed as a GPS unit, but it is actually a 1GHz Windows XP tablet PC – for just $270! It comes with a decent navigation software package, but you can run almost anything you want on it. Inside the machine is 1GB of RAM, a 30GB hard drive, WiFi and even Bluetooth.

If you want to keep up to date with the latest sports scores, or just want some fresh music on the road, check out the Pioneer GEX-XMP3 portable satellite radio. This little radio will let you listen to live XM radio and can record up to 5 channels at the same time, allowing you to listen to them later (like on your flight). It retails for $172.29, but comes with an $80 mail in rebate, bringing the price down to just $92.29. You will of course have to sign up for an XM radio subscription.

Magicjack is a tricky product – they market the device on late night TV infomercials, and their site is always screaming about how you need to buy now now now! Bottom line is that $40 gets you a USB dongle and one year of unlimited phone service. You can make calls on your PC (using a headset), or you can plug a regular phone into its jack. I’ve been carrying a Magicjack in my travel kit for years, and it has saved me a fortune when I’m abroad and need to call the US. You’ll find Magicjack at their own web site, or through Radioshack. The initial purchase price is $40, and additional years of service are just $19.95.

And finally in today’s lineup is the Creative Zen portable media player. This $85 8GB device supports music, video and photos and includes a built in FM radio. The storage space can be expanded with a regular SD card, which means you can bring its total capacity to 16GB for about $20 more.
